“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. Luke 1:38 Christmas is humility. I know. Probably not your first choice of descriptions for the holiday season. But it was certainly God’s starting point. We need to remember that our Lord was not born in palatial surroundings, in a sterile hospital ward, or with adoring crowds. No. The King of Glory was birthed in the midst of the humbled surroundings of a stable. When the time came for His appearance He chose not the glorious edifices of human wisdom, power, privileged or popularity but rather he opted for the OT equivalent of a barnyard. We need to remember the importance of humility during the holiday season. Forget this essential ingredient and your Christmas cake will come out half-baked, if you get my drift. Christ was birthed in humility. His people should certainly walk it in. Let this holiday season be a time to grow in humility. Let your heart and your life be a place where the Savior would choose to reveal Himself.
