This coming February 16th a team from FUMC will be travelling to Port-au-Prince, Haiti to meet, connect and share our faith with our brothers and sister in Haiti. The red arrow point to the location in a place called Bon Repo, Haiti. If you follow this link you'll be able to see the surrounding area in Haiti on Google Maps. If you look closely at the top of the building you should be able to see a small black square is actually the photo voltaic cells that charge a bank of batteries on the first floor. You can also see a small (at least in this photo) black circle that is the large black water tank. Water is pumped from a well with the help of the batteries into the tank for showers and toilets. Outside the compound to the top left, are what appear to be white circles. These are actually piles of concrete rubble that have been dumped here following the earthquake. Directly above the orphanage you can see an abandoned structure in partial completion. The walls are up, but the rest if overgrown.
I pray for your blessing, O God, on those who have heard your call to “go into all the world and make disciples”. I thank you for each heart that has been moved to journey to a place they have never been before, to greet a people they have never know and to give of themselves in way they cannot yet comprehend. Grant them Your peace, Almighty God, capture their imagination and ignite in them a passion that will not be quenched by unforeseen challenges, worries or distractions. I especially thank you for their families and the support team that will pray for them while they are gone and will celebrate with them upon their safe return. May each member of the team and their families feel your Holy Spirit at work within them to strengthen their resolve, relieve their doubts and fears and inspire their vision of your love and presence in the world. Amen ~  Pastor Steve Gedon, 2012
