40 Days of Love, Week 1
"Let LOVE be your Highest Goal!" 1 Corinthians 14:1
So often, love is seen as an uncontrollable event, like something you “fall” into or fall out of. But love is a choice, a commitment and the greatest challenge of your life. We need HELP! We need Divine intervention, we need God. The Bible is His story of redeeming love, sacrificial love and often time unreturned love. Love is the reason you are here on this planet. Life is a school of love. So with this lesson, we’ll begin our course in Love 101.
One day a man asked Jesus, “What is the greatest commandment?” Or to put it bluntly, what’s the purpose of it all? Jesus answered, “To love God, and to love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:30-31, above). If we get that, we understand what God wants from us, why we’re wired the way we are and why there is this endless longing to be accepted.
I hope and pray for all of you who are taking this journey of love and especially for those who feel they don’t need it. Together we’ll grow, stretch, learn and live the power of LOVE!
