Life in Haiti 2.26.13

Heading Home..

When he looked and saw the traveler in the city square, the old man asked, “Where are you going? Where did you come from?” Judges 19:17

My last entry from Bon Repos, Haiti.

Looking back at the time, the experiences and the miles we’ve travelled it all seems to be some kind of a dream that happens to other people. You hear about mission trips, what got accomplished and the needs that were met, but you may think that is for others. We been changed in 10 short days and as it draws to a close, the tears, the promises of a quick return and a feeling of family sweeps over you. This has stopped becoming a mission trip to Haiti and a journey together with friends to experience the Kingdom of God together.

After our afternoon at the beach, we returned to the orphanage with a small detour of a flat tire that I spoke about yesterday. Boto set out again to pick up some ice cream and the girls organized our supply of present for a united Birthday Party. We had a great time, with ice cream, pictures, candy and games. It was truly a celebration that went on way longer than anyone expected. We didn’t get to bed until 11:30 and remember the sun comes up at 5:30 and the boys still have school today.

While we waited for Boto to return the boys played with their new basketball  hoop and stand, played game and wrote letters to you. I’ll show them when we return. Our flight out of Port-au-Prince leaves at 1:30 pm and we arrive in Columbus at 11:30 pm. It will be a long day, but a great opportunity to talk and

share and celebrate what God has done.

I cannot, however, end this jouney-log with you, the reader, without expressing my deep gratitude for your prayers and for sharing this journey with us. We have felt you all along the journey and know that all that we have experience, learned and grown through is due in no small part to your prayers and support for God’s work in the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing us to represent you, God’s Saints, in the ministry.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to sign off from my home in West Virginia!
