Heaven is not a place you go to, It is a place you grow to. Heaven is the gift of what you pursue in life. If your life is dominated by the pursuit of self-indulgent pleasure and privilege you will be rewarded by living in a world of hoarding and scarcity. If you live by giving and sharing, you will find your rest in a world of abundance and mutual cooperation. The choice is yours. Unfortunately for most of us we're distracted by less important things in this life. We forget that eternity far outweighs what happens here and lose sight of what our journey is really all about. I'm concerned that most Christians have given up the pursuit of Heaven and have resigned themselves to it. It's their due, their duty and their doom. A life of boredom and endless tedium. But the Apostle Paul struggled to decide whether it was better to die and be with Christ or to life and serve Christ. Which would you choose? Paul kept his eye on the prize for which Christ was calling him Heavenward. Until we're able to speak of Heaven intelligently and passionately, we'll be distracted by less important, trivial and irrelevant issues. How do we stay focused and finish the race well? (1) stay passionate for God in Worship (2) Pursue the Kingdom of God through study and service (3) Persevere through the obstacles that cause us to grow in wisdom and maturity.
