That is a great answer to prayer! I will happily ride in a dump truck. Never done it before--I think Haiti will add more new "firsts" for me.
I am getting more excited about the trip as it gets closer. I found a great free app for my phone: Brainscape French Creole. Apparently it is a designed for aid workers who are traveling to Haiti, so I assume that it is fairly standard Haitian creole (or kreyol, as they say). So I am trying to learn some helpful phrases. I'm reading Jonathan Katz' new book (just came out last month) The Big Truck That Went By. Katz was a journalist in Haiti who covered the earthquake. He deals with that, and Haitian society and politics and double-edged sword of foreign aid. I'll bring it along if anyone else wants it.
