Eternal and ever present God, we open ourselves to you in the spirit of reverent prayer.
We pray for your guiding spirit as we have gathered to send these, your disciples, on a new and exciting journey. Your love has redeemed them, Your message has inspired them and your Holy Spirit has called them from this Body of Christ to serve in your name, to offer your grace and to share your love with their brothers and sisters in Haiti. In serving may they receive and in receiving may they rejoice as their faith grows and flourishes.
Loving God, we ask that their faith will deepen and that Your Kingdom will unfold before them in new and exciting ways as they discover and rediscover the universal language of the Gospel.
Despite facing obstacles as yet unknown, encountering needs beyond their imagination and accepting the limits of their own power and strength, may they never waver from their trust in Your love or Your Presence in Haiti.
Our Prayer, O God, is that they will be drawn closer to You, to see You at work despite the hardships and the poverty and offer themselves without reservation, without fear and without pride.
Sometimes it is scary to leave the familiar and those we love and to venture so far from home, but we trust your hand to guide and protect them as it leads to new paths and new growth.
May their words and their example be pleasing to You and reflect only your love and grace and the generous Spirit of this church community. Protect and comfort their loved ones while they are away and bring them back safely home with memories, inspiration and passion for years to come.
And so we ask Your blessing upon them, O Lord, wrap your loving arms around Matt, Erin, Tony, Esther and Barb as they give themselves into your hands. May they feel a courage, energy, and passion grow within them ignited by the possibilities of what lies ahead. We pray that each one will return, inspired to live out their faith with a new revelation of you mission in the world and in their hearts.
