Why are we not satisfied with this world as it is? Why do we long for beauty, love and fulfillment? Why is pain, suffering and death so revolting and something we fight against? John Lennon in his song "Imagine" suggests we ignore the reality of Heaven and the after life in favor a more immediate response to the here and now, but will that really work? The Bible says clearly NO! If we live for today, we live for ourselves because there is no hope for the future. Get what you can get while you can get it, is a far cry from the Christian calling to love one another even if that love requires the ultimate sacrifice. But how well do we know and appreciate the Doctrine of Heaven?
