Over-Achievers: The dictionary defines an overachiever as someone who achieves success over and above the standard or expected level. The lives of overachievers  are marked by an uncanny ability to achieve success despite times of uncertainty or when facing what seem to be insurmountable odds. They seem to have little or no fear of failure and in a moment of crisis their unwavering faith is transformed into the miraculous. Do you remember, for example, the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team? Overachievers are tenacious; they don't give up until the buzzer sounds, the last exam is passed, or until the finish line is crossed. They believe in themselves and what they are doing so much that nothing seems impossible. Are you an overachiever? First United Methodist Church is filled with overachievers, and I suspect you may be one of them. Sure we all have obstacles in our lives, those little and sometimes not so little, bumps in the road that challenge and inspire us to go that extra mile and finish the race we started. This church has been bless with so many people who know what God can do with ordinary lives, who believe that working together and live each day knowing that miracles really do happen. Think about some of the obstacles we have met this last year and yet continue to overcome….
  1. Parking – simply put, we're landlocked and yet we continue to find new ways to welcome new friends, hold more classes, and finding new ways to reach out to our community.
  2. Space – Sunday school classes are filled and still we want to grow even more. Many people continue to find new creative ways to use the space we have to do even more than we thought we could.
  3. Finances – finances are never a handicap, they are a test of faith. We may not be where we want to be, but our hearts are still filled with generosity, compassion and a heart for missions. This year for the first time we sent a missionary to Nicaragua, a team to Gulfport, Miss., and several individuals to MS and FL. what will we do net year?
The church has always been filled with men and women who are overachiever. People who live by the promises of God and not by the challenges before them. Will we still have obstacles, sure, but we will meet each and everyone one without fear, because of the vision and excitement, The more you seek security, the less of it you have. But the more you seek opportunity, the more likely it is that you will achieve the security that you desire. Brian Tracy Blessings,
